Bianca is a designer specialising in typography, type design, and type technology.

Currently, she is a staff typographer working on Encore, Spotify’s design system, where she drives innovation in typography in cross-platform product experiences.

Before joining Spotify, Bianca led creative direction on brand typefaces and complex type systems for global companies like Amazon, BBC, FedEx, Indeed, and Google while at Dalton Maag.

Bianca loves sharing her knowledge and often speaks at international design, technology, and UX conferences. She is also a member of the Unicode Consortium and serves as an invited expert in the W3C Web Fonts Working Group.

Through her involvement with Alphabettes, an organisation dedicated to empowering women in the type industry, Bianca founded a mentorship program to guide students and emerging professionals into the world of type design and typography.

Carla is Head of Design Ops at Skyscanner, where she’s spent the past three years shaping the structure, culture, and operational efficiency of a 50-person in-house brand team. With over a decade in operations, including four years as Operations Director at product design agency Snook, Carla brings deep expertise in building and scaling creative teams. At Snook, she scaled the team from 12 to 100 people and led the business through an eightfold increase in revenue. At Skyscanner, she oversees a team of producers and has been instrumental in evolving the brand function, from flagship campaigns and reports to ensuring consistent brand execution across the business. Carla is passionate about creating scalable team models that adapt to the evolving needs of design work.

Ross Mawdsley

Ross Mawdsley is a seasoned design leader with a career spanning nearly three decades in design and advertising. He is currently the Global Head of Visual Design at Skyscanner, based in the company’s London office, where he leads the brand design team and oversees the visual identity and look and feel of the brand.

Before joining Skyscanner, Ross held senior leadership roles at several renowned agencies. He was Head of Design, Creative Director, and Partner at BBH, where he worked with global brands such as Audi, Samsung, Absolut Vodka, Tesco, and Nike.

Prior to that, Ross was Creative Director at AKQA London, managing key Nike accounts across Women’s, Women’s Training, and Western Europe. Ross also served as Creative Director at Amaze (now Valtech), leading work on the global Lexus and ASICS accounts. Notably, he spearheaded the award-winning redesign of Lexus’s global website, covering 38 regional markets.

Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Art Director in New York, focusing on digital work for Diageo brands including Heineken, Johnnie Walker, Ciroc, and Grand Marnier, earning multiple accolades such as Webby Awards and FWAs. In addition to his creative work, Ross has contributed to the industry as a judge for the FWA and Creativepool Annual, and he has been recognised as one of The Drum’s 100 Most Influential Designers.
